TENTBOX LITE 2.0 - Installing roof tent on FIAT Panda 1st camping trip to Kames Motorsports Circuit.
#tentbox #unboxing #rooftent
To save on hotel and fuel bills, when competing at various racing circuits, I have purchased a TentBox Lite 2.0 roof tent to go on my FIAT Panda.
The TentBox lite 2.0 was quite east to fit using a pair of roof bars fitted to the roof rails of the Panda. The TentBox is quite heavy (about 50kg) and really needs two people (or some form of hoist) to lift onto the roof bars.
The TentBox Lite 2.0 has an inbuilt mattress which was quite comfortable.
The tent has a fly sheet and has opening windows in the sides and ends as well as two roof lights. The windows and roof lights have zippable fly screens to keep out the dreaded Scottish midges. The tent is a blackout tent a...

Barbon Hillclimb 13th July 2024 - Doug's Shed Vs Gus's Garage Round 2 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9

Liverpool Motor Club's hillclimb at Barbon Manor (Cumbria) on 13th July 2024. Angus let me double enter in his 1987 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 (again). Very good sized entry for the event and the weather stayed (mostly) dry. This was the first time I had driven at Barbon and was only the second time I had driven the Peugeot. First timed run was a very respectable 32.75 seconds, which matched the event...
Front Wheel Death Wobble - FIXED 1936 Morgan 4/4
Просмотров 34921 день назад
My 1936 Morgan 4/4 sports car had been experiencing a severe wheel wobble when driving, especially when going over potholes and ruts. When I was changing the oil, after replacing the blown head gasket, I noticed that the right hand side spring damper blade was fractured. This 1936 car appears to have a slightly different (possibly home-made?) spring blade mounting. This one uses a slotted hole ...

86 YEAR OLD MORGAN 4/4 ENGINE STRIPDOWN FOR HEAD GASKET FAIL -COVENTRY CLIMAX ENGINE
Просмотров 917Месяц назад
My 1936 Morgan 4/4 started to misfire, smoke and push water out the exhaust. Suspected a head gasket failure. The engine is a 1122cc Coventry Climax unit with overhead inlet valves and side valve exhaust valves. Being a pre-war English car, it requires Whitworth sized spanners and sockets to dismantle the engine. Spare parts, for the Morgan "Flatrad" Series 1, are available from the Morgan Spor...
JEDI RACE CAR CHAIN DRIVE LSD REPAIR

At the Forrestburn Hillclimb, on the first day of a two day event, Stuart Mather's 600cc Jedi single seater race car suffered a broken output shaft on its chain drive differential. Set out in warm sunshine, in my Citroen Ami Electric Quadricycle, for a trip into the Ochil Hills of Perthshire. I intended to drive down Dunning Glen and onto Auchterarder where I could recharge the car for the return journey. My GTM Rossa Mk2 was parked up two years ago as it had problems with a slipping clutch. It has been parked on a grass verge all that time and I needed to move it to mow the grass. I charged up the battery and the 1275 Mini A-Series engine started straight away. Unsurprisingly, a few of the electrics have stopped working and the interior was a bit damp. great idea Doug, Hope to see you and Angus at Forestburn 18th
Hi John, yes we should both be at Forrestburn, see you there. Doug.
Hello Doug i hope youre well , at 13:40 i heard someone say "at least its got fuel going in the right end" , which end did you end up feeding the fuel in through to get it running ?, at the start you mentioned the left side was fuel feed in and right side was fuel out so i wasnt sure if you ended up switching them over to get it running, cheers in advance mate 👍
Hi, just had to check, yes the fuel goes into the right hand end of the fuel rail and returns from the left hand end.
@DougsShed thanks mate , I swapped it round to check and it fired straight up , my motor is going in a quad bike soon
@@nathanburton2002 Well done!
Try fitting to the Ami
I don't think 50kg on the Ami's roof would be a good idea. Could mount it on a small trailer. There is an upcoming EU directive legitimising the use of trailers on motorbikes and quadricycles.
@@DougsShed Unfortunately, new EU directives no longer apply to us.
@@DougsShed The UK Motorcycle legislation already allows motorcycles to tow a trailer 1M wide and up to 150kg (bike kerbside weight dependent), UK legislation for other "non traditional" machines is still playing catch up I think.
The Tentbox looks perfect . Just what you need for getting a good nights rest before race day. Thanks Doug and have a great week
Hi Lloyd, yes it led to a much relaxed weekend with less travelling and no 5am early car journeys. I have 3 weekend events in a row at the end of the month and the TentBox will come in really handy and it will save on hotel bills as well. Doug.
Ideal addition to your set up. Makes a lot of sense. Well done on your new PB.
Thanks Graham.
The door pulls mod is a good idea.
Love this , I remember this event so well ! I’m not sure they do it anymore ! Great to see the park the way I remember it ! Thank you for this ❤
Unfortunately Strathclyde Park hillclimb is long gone.
So sad these events were so special to us growing up ❤
West Coast breeze has it's benefits.
Hi I’ve just bought my ami and absolutely love it! I’ve been eating your channel for some time. Have you had any water ingress issues?
I sometimes get a little water tricking through the door seal. Glad the car has plastic floors and rubber mats.
If a person welds,a flange could be welded to the bottom of the tube and then bolted down with the sprocket bolts?
your origonal powerup 4.0 is almost identical to mine with the same red antenna because mine broke off and a damaged switch
I’ve hit 78km/h on a long downhill (almost 50mph)
Great turn out and very good showing, well done. If the Jeffrey had door hinges?
Hi Niall, the Jeffrey needs 200bhp!
1.20 👌
Yes, it was nice to see one of these installed.
Would love to see the champion 2000/1600 inverter in size comparison to this.... I got the 2000w yellow one.. we used it a few times already for starlink intermet amd coffee maker.. works nice.
The 2000W version is actually larger in size compared to the 2200w Champion "Mighty Atom" (43hx52Lx33w 19.6kg) Vs. (44.5hx44Lx28w 17.9kg)
Really enjoyed seeing all the cool cars at the rally. Nice race Doug around the track 😁👍🏁
Hi Lloyd, the track is in a very picturesque part of Cumbria (England). Excellent selection of cars including vintage and classics.
Great video loved the head to head too 😎👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks, it was great fun and a great venue.
@@DougsShed I agree Barbon always feels like a community, I was competing in the grey Honda S2000 👍🏽
Some nice cars there 👍🏻
Some interesting/unusual cars and some very well prepared classics.
Any more Ami POV videos coming soon?
I'm planning a longer trip!
@@DougsShed Can't wait! Also, Microlino is now available to buy in the UK. I put an order in and cancelled the Citroen Ami 😅 Top battery range is 178 miles.
@@POVDrivingTour Unfortunately the Microlino is way too expensive. Dacia Spring is more in my budget range.

There's only a small group of people that are interested in this kind of fabricating. thank you for all you do and thinking outside the box 🤜🤛👍 after struggling to find something Worthy on RUclips you bring a ray of Hope that there's other like-minded people like myself
Closest I've found to what I was looking for I aquired a go-kart frame for a trade, mid size.. not your little kids kart 😁 Then I was given a V Star 650 shaft drive motor w/ transmission Trying to find a way to either change to chain drive or come up with a short version shaft drive rear end for kart Keep up the good work, and thanks for thinking outside the box.. Apparently I'm not the only one..😂
Great job Doug on the strut repair. The Morgan is as good as ever now. The new head gasket fixed your issue perfectly too. Have a great week my friend
Hi Lloyd, I think most things are fixed now. On my first drive since replacing the head gasket, I got 1 mile down the road and there was a loud rattling from the engine. I hadn't fully tightened one of the rocker posts and the valve gear was rattling off the valve cover. Easy fix at the side of the road (luckily I had packed tools).
if one side has sheared off, makes me wonder how good the other side is
My thoughts too!
but have u checked it Doug?
Combined Hub Cap retainer and bearing dust cap is a lovely detail.
Hi Niall, quite a neat solution. Problem with 16" wheels is finding suitable (cheap) tyres.
No messing around at 10:03 ✅
Hi Nic, good use of gravity to check suspension.
How do you find the fido d2 , i was looking at those, they have a good range. I cycled the forth and clyde from bowling the year falkirk wheel opened , was it about 2004 and didnt know it was just a muddy gravel path, was realy hard going :) hear its all tar now. I see your public chargers are 45p kwh same as ours now. I hardly ever charge on public now. Charge at home at 9pkwh nights
The D2s is still doing fine. Battery pack is holding up but I seldom need to use the battery assist except for strong headwinds or steep inclines. Charged the Ami today at Tesco in Stirling at 44p/kwh (equated to 6.8p/mile)
Hows doug getting on with his ami
Now done 4700miles
@@DougsShed do you still use it every day ? I remember you had a strut top bearing fail, have you had any other problems. Was thinking getting one as a fun wee runabout here in Oban . They look great fun
At one time chimney swipes would tie a weight and rope to a turkey drop it down a chimney, the flapping bird would dislodge all the soot.
Great video, I've found 2 potential diffa for my application. One is an open 1.8L 4:1 and one is A super fuji 3:6. The car will be R1 powered and FWD, so I'm leaning towards the LSD. Will that ratio suit? Will changing sprocket size make up for difference in final drive ratio?
Well that was different, for you just about everything was different from your usual weapons. Well done, the gauntlet is down. I remember cringing behind the Ingliston Armco at the hairpin clutching a fire extinguisher as one those McLarens barreled towards me, scary stuff.
There used to be one which came to Doune as well.
White knuckle racing Doug on a wet track. Nice job keeping it on the track. 🏁🏁 We will see the outcome next race 💪😁👍
Hi Lloyd, long range forecast for 13th July is SUNNY. That will make a change.
👏👏👏👏👏 9:57
Angus is a very trusting guy!
I raced there in 1979 twice. I am positive we went the other way.
I'm not even sure which way the horses race!
Some rallies went anti-clockwise but apart from the first race in 1954 every race, sprint or track day has run clockwise
@@DougsShed Horses run anti-clockwise
wow great stuff Doug
Nice to drive a car with a bit of power.
Glad to see the pair of you keeping out of mischief 🤣🤣
.. apart from Angus loosing the bonnet at 105mph!
Hey Doug, i just have a quick question in regard to the bearings as i'm working on a similar project to this. Did you make the diameter of the hole to house the bearings the same as the bearings outside diameter? OR did you make the hole a little bigger to accomodate for the bearings? I saw you also heat up the mounts; could you please expand on this? Thanks :) (great video as always)
Hi, check the bearing manufacturer's data sheets. Normally the fit of the bearing is a slight interference fit (typically 0.002" on the sizes of bearings we use). Alternatively, if your fit is looser you can use 'bearing fit' adhesive to secure the bearing in the housing.
@@DougsShed Sounds good mate, thanks for the reply :)
Interesting to see inside a Climax. Number 3 exhaust valve also shows signs of a little "steam cleaning" and you can see the opening of a channel formed through the gasket towards jacket at 12:07
Yes, I saw the clean cylinder no.3 and guessed that it was getting water in it too. Well spotted.
What are the differences between the coventry climax head and the willment oiv ford 1172 head All the best Peter
The 1172cc Ford was a 'flat-head' side valve engine. The Coventry Climax has its inlet valves in the head.
The willment head was a overhead inlet valve conversion for the 100e that looked very like the morgan. I know that the disi drive is in the center of the block on the ford but how mutch of it is the same All the best Peter
@@peterkilner512 I'm not familiar with that conversion.
Nice work Doug, the head came off pretty easy. Looking forward to taking a run in the Morgan soon. 😎👍
Hi Lloyd, very simple engines. Does not even have a water pump or cooling fan!
how old was the old head gasket approx? how long did it take to disassemble it?
I think the previous owner had the engine re-built about 2016. Only took about 30 minutes to strip. Longest operation was levering the head off the studs.
I wasn't expecting to see a layered composite gasket on that. Interesting configuration, could you call it a semi cross flow?
Hi Niall, I was expecting a solid copper gasket. New one I have looks the same as the one which failed. Inlet-over-Exhaust is the designation of this configuration (similar to my Series One Land Rover's engine).
@@DougsShed Of course, I'd forgotten about those, probably as I've never worked on older than the SIIA 2.25 3 bearing.
I was thinking “where are the rest of the valves” until the caption explaining it was inlet over exhaust. 👍
Fantastic turn around and very interesting fracture pattern. Well done.
It's not unusual for me to come back from an event with various competitors broken parts to repair overnight.
